What to do on the weekend, when you don't know what to do
Found yourself with no plans on the weekend, and not sure what to do with yourself? What a wonderful situation to be in!
But sometimes the endless possibilities can be overwhelming, and it's very tempting to just stay inside aimlessly scrolling through your phone, especially when you can't come up with anything to do on your own. That's why we've done the hard yards for you, so you can stop worrying if you're boring, and just get straight into enjoying yourself! Here's an extensive list of random, great ideas for how to spend a weekend when you have no idea what to do:
- Get active! Get those endorphins pumping one way or another, whether it's by running, swimming, surfing, cycling, yoga, or whatever you most enjoy.
- Visit an art gallery or museum (try NSW Art Gallery or White Rabbit Gallery)
- Go for a dip at your nearest beach or swimming spot
- Take yourself for a scenic walk along the coast or in the bush (or go further afield to the blue mountains)
- Go snorkeling (Shelly Beach and Clovelly Beach are perfect spots, and there are always lots of people around)
- Cook a new recipe (we love RecipeTin Eats and Recipearce for new recipes!
- Do some gardening (whether it's potting, weeding, or pruning, there's something so relaxing about plants)
- Go to the markets (try Carriageworks Farmers Market for fresh produce, or Bondi Markets for local & handmade finds)
- Drive somewhere new and grab a coffee / drink (our favourite is the beautiful drive up to Palm Beach, where there are lots of cafes to choose from)
- Read a book at the park (take a camping chair or a picnic rug and park yourself under a tree)
- Do a crossword, sudoku or puzzle (embrace your inner grandma, grab a cuppa and get to work)
- Check what's on and take yourself on a little date! See if there are any sporting events on at the SCG, SFS, or ANZ Stadium, or if there's anything good showing at The Orpheum, Comedy Store or Opera House.
And last but not least, don't forget to phone a friend! Two is always better than one when it comes to having fun. Not only does it double the enjoyment, but it also opens up a world of possibilities for shared activities. Think tennis, rock climbing, soccer at the park, an afternoon at the bowlo / bewery / distillery / winery, and if you're in the mood for live music the options are endless. So grab a friend and let the good times roll!
